Airport Ground Access

Airport construction and maintenance work often extends beyond paved areas. Vehicles may need to cross grass, gravel, soft soil, or unfinished ground to reach hangars, terminals, airfield work zones, or remote maintenance areas.
BKM ground protection mats can be installed as temporary access roads, equipment routes, loading areas, maintenance platforms, and emergency access paths. Available thicknesses range from 10 to 60 mm, with static load ratings from 50 to over 300 tons.
This range allows the system to accommodate everything from service vans and maintenance trucks to forklifts, excavators, cranes, and other heavy construction machinery.
The mats help keep vehicles moving while reducing sinking, rutting, and damage to the ground below. They can also be removed or repositioned as the project moves from one section of the airport to another, making them practical for expansion, repair, and short-term airfield operations.
