Crane outrigger pads are designed to create a firm base for the outriggers and stabilizer by equalizing the effect of the reaction forces on their surface. In cases when the operation is conducted on asphalt shoulders, gravel, compacted soil, grass, unfinished pads, and other combinations of materials, it becomes important to determine the appropriate pad size and type.
HDPE and UHMWPE pads remain among the two most commonly used types of industrial pads. They remain light, waterproof, corrosion-resistant, and able to withstand outdoor operation in comparison with wood.

Each batch undergoes thorough inspection on the shop floor. Raw material is tested upon arrival, as well as finished parts upon completion. Anything failing to conform to specifications is not shipped out.
ISO 9001:2015 certification requires written processes, production control measures, and traceability of the process from initial raw material to finished part. More critically, ISO helps us maintain tolerances across multiple batches, rather than just in theory.
In cases of applications involving food production, only selected types of HDPE and UHMWPE materials which conform to FDA food-grade standards are used. These grades are usually utilized in cutting surfaces, guides, and wear parts.
Materials comply with RoHS environmental regulations in terms of substance content restrictions. This is ensured by monitoring the components of the material, rather than the finished part.
Material test reports available upon request include mechanical properties such as tensile strength and impact value, as well as wear information and dimensional checks.
HDPE is a strong all-around choice for many standard outrigger pad applications. It balances weight, durability and cost. UHMWPE is more commonly used when the pad needs higher wear resistance and tougher long-term performance in demanding industrial service.
Consider your outrigger reaction force and the allowable ground bearing pressure, not from pad size alone. The larger the area required, the more rigid the pad generally needs to be.

Some heavy-duty and super-duty plastic pads can. Heavy-duty pads with working load limits up to 160,000 lbs, and super-duty ones up to 210,000 lbs. You should make a correct choice depending on float size, reaction force, and site ground conditions.
Common square sizes include 18" x 18", 24" x 24", 30" x 30", 36" x 36", 42" x 42", and 48" x 48". Common thickness classes are 1 inch, 1.5 inch, 2 inch, and 3 inch, with round options available up to 60 inches in some ranges.
Smaller pads often can be handled by one person. Larger HDPE pads are used with rope or molded handles to make placement easier.
The ground should be compacted and level; The pad surface should be clean and free of debris; The pad itself should be inspected for integrity before every use. Besides, the outrigger float should be placed squarely in the center of the pad. The pads should never be set up over voids or depressions.
Low- to medium-pressure water is commonly recommended to remove soil, mud, road chemicals, and hydraulic fluid. Pads should then be secured properly for transport so they do not shift or fall during transit.
