Solid UHMWPE access panels for planned heavy civil traffic routes

BKM's reference solution for composite access mats for heavy civil construction uses solid UHMWPE. We supply large, connected panels for temporary equipment routes, not hollow-core roadway panels or timber dragline foundations. Choose between the reference footprints around your vehicle movements, supporting ground and handling equipment. Send your route drawing, axle or track loads and traffic frequency so we can define the panel-and-connector package with you.

Product Specifications

Detailed technical specifications

Key Features & Advantages

  • Specify the actual material and body construction. We quote solid UHMWPE for the access panels on this page. Keep that description in your purchase specification instead of relying on the word composite alone. Our 38 mm solid body is a different structure from a 102 mm cellular roadway panel, even when both appear in a temporary-access enquiry.
  • Fit the footprint to your vehicle path. Our reference formats are 3000 × 2500 mm and 4000 × 2000 mm. Their nominal face areas are 7.5 m² and 8.0 m² respectively. We review road width, corners, passing places and unloading approaches with your drawing before estimating quantities; the larger area is not automatically the better fit.
  • Keep body thickness separate from texture. Both reference formats have a 38 mm body and a 48 mm overall textured profile. Record both measurements so you can compare equivalent panels and plan entrance transitions. An overall thickness that includes raised tread should not be presented as the solid body thickness.
  • Review loading along the complete route. Send loaded axle weights, tire dimensions or track contact details together with ground information and expected passes. Identify weak areas and changes in fill before installation. Vehicle gross weight alone does not establish suitability, and an intact panel does not prove that the ground beneath it remains adequately supported.
  • Order a coordinated connection layout. We supply matching connection hardware for the agreed panel drawing. Show junctions, bends and any existing stock that the new panels must join. Confirm hole positions and connector compatibility before production, then inspect alignment and hardware where braking or turning repeatedly loads the joints.
  • Include tracked movements in the specification. Describe steel grousers, track contact length and any pivot turns rather than listing only the machine model. Straight travel and turning impose different demands on the mat surface and connections. We review the proposed configuration with those movements; a tire-access specification does not automatically approve tracked operation.
  • Plan mechanical handling at both ends of the job. The reference panels weigh approximately 293 kg and 312 kg. Arrange suitable unloading and placement equipment, approved handling provisions and supported stacking space before delivery. Confirm the recovery route as well; connection holes must not be assumed to be lifting points.
  • Compare a complete access package. When comparing access mat manufacturers, include the stated material, panel drawing, matching hardware, packing and intended traffic duty. Add your route preparation, mechanical installation and recovery costs to the purchasing comparison. These access panels are not specified as crane outrigger pads, dragline working foundations or bridges over unsupported gaps.

Applications

  • Earthwork delivery corridors. Use a selected solid UHMWPE layout for repeated truck and equipment travel between an established entrance and an active work area. Show trailer turns and stopping positions on your route drawing. The support beneath the lane and widened areas must be assessed for the actual traffic.
  • Road and utility infrastructure access. Connect supported equipment routes alongside construction work while keeping traffic clear of excavation edges and buried-service restrictions. Include passing places where vehicles cannot safely reverse the full distance. Any open-trench crossing requires a separate engineered solution rather than an unsupported mat span.
  • Civil-site equipment transfers. Move approved tracked or wheeled equipment between work sections over a defined temporary route. Review the turning locations, panel orientation and mechanical recovery access before installation. Travel access does not authorize digging, lifting or stationary concentrated loads on the same arrangement.

Solid UHMWPE reference formats for route layout, procurement and mechanical-handling planning. Final dimensions and connection details follow the approved order drawing.

Face area is a geometric reference, not a guaranteed installed quantity or load rating. These panels require suitable supporting ground and are not specified for outrigger support or unsupported spans. The related riverbank case used 38 mm HDPE mats, not the large UHMWPE formats above.

Company Certifications
Quality Assurance

Certified for Global Standards

Each batch undergoes thorough inspection on the shop floor. Raw material is tested upon arrival, as well as finished parts upon completion. Anything failing to conform to specifications is not shipped out.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

ISO 9001:2015 certification requires written processes, production control measures, and traceability of the process from initial raw material to finished part. More critically, ISO helps us maintain tolerances across multiple batches, rather than just in theory.

Food-Grade FDA Compliance

In cases of applications involving food production, only selected types of HDPE and UHMWPE materials which conform to FDA food-grade standards are used. These grades are usually utilized in cutting surfaces, guides, and wear parts.

RoHS Compliant Manufacturing

Materials comply with RoHS environmental regulations in terms of substance content restrictions. This is ensured by monitoring the components of the material, rather than the finished part.

Traceable Material Test Reports (MTR)

Material test reports available upon request include mechanical properties such as tensile strength and impact value, as well as wear information and dimensional checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our reference solution on this page is solid UHMWPE. We state the material and solid-body construction in the quotation; the category name alone does not establish a laminated, fiber-reinforced or hollow-core structure. Compare the confirmed specification rather than treating every composite access mat as equivalent.

Compare 3000 × 2500 mm and 4000 × 2000 mm against your usable lane width, vehicle swept path, available handling space and shipment requirements. The respective nominal face areas are 7.5 m² and 8.0 m². We need the connected layout before confirming the panel count.

No. Both listed formats have a 38 mm solid body and a 48 mm overall profile including texture. Keep these as separate entries on the approved drawing. Neither thickness measurement is an unconditional vehicle-load rating.

Not on the basis of this access specification. A dragline foundation involves operating loads and ground-support requirements that differ from traffic access. These panels are not offered here with a dragline operating-support or unsupported-span rating; request a separately engineered system for that duty.

No. Provide the track design, operating weight and turning method for a separate review of that movement. Turning can concentrate abrasion and lateral forces at the surface and joints. The approved route must identify permitted movements rather than relying on the equipment name alone.

Arrange mechanical unloading for approximately 293 kg or 312 kg per panel, plus the actual pack weights. Confirm access for the handling equipment, supported staging space and approved lifting provisions. We coordinate panel and connector details; your handling equipment is a separate project provision.

Send the route dimensions, loaded axle or track details, ground assessment, traffic frequency, turns, quantity and destination. Include your unloading method and any existing-panel drawings. Ask each manufacturer to identify the material, body thickness, overall profile and matching hardware so the offers describe the same access duty.
