HDPE panels for construction access over finished exterior surfaces

Keep construction traffic off an exposed finished driveway, concrete approach or paved courtyard with a deliberately specified protection route. BKM construction surface protection mats are removable solid HDPE panels for exterior equipment access, not indoor floor-protection film or carpet covering. We review the panel faces, joints and complete vehicle path with you. Clean contact surfaces and adequate paving support remain essential; a protective panel is not a scratch-free guarantee or a way to increase slab capacity.

Key Features & Advantages

  • Protect the complete vehicle path. Include turns, reversing and material-transfer positions when planning your route. Our panels provide a removable contact layer beneath the approved traffic, but exposed edges and uncovered turns remain unprotected. Send a sketch showing where tires or tracks actually move, rather than only the shortest straight approach.
  • Specify the underside as carefully as the top. The running face and the face touching your paving serve different purposes. We review single-sided and double-sided arrangements with the intended equipment and finish. A smoother underside may be considered for sensitive surfaces, but it must be assessed for contact compatibility and movement rather than assumed harmless.
  • Keep abrasive debris out of the interface. Inspect and clean the paving and panel underside before placement. Stones, metal offcuts and embedded grit can still mark the finish if trapped beneath a mat. Include checks where traffic arrives from bare ground, and lift representative sections when conditions indicate debris may have entered.
  • Compare like-for-like panel dimensions. The 1220 × 2440 mm reference has a 12.7 mm body. One-sided texture gives approximately 17.7 mm overall thickness and 38 kg weight; two-sided texture gives approximately 22.7 mm and 41 kg. Confirm the selected faces on the drawing so additional tread height is not confused with body thickness.
  • Review connector contact with the paving. We supply matching hardware for the agreed holes and route arrangement. Check the underside of the connection as well as the panel, especially at joints and turns. Avoid improvised anchors or projecting fittings that could damage the surface you intend to protect.
  • Plan edges for the actual wheel size. Panel entrances and exits introduce a change in level. Describe small wheels, wheelbase, ground clearance and any pedestrian crossings so the transition can be assessed. A route acceptable for one vehicle does not automatically suit a pallet truck or other equipment with different contact loads.
  • Confirm the finished surface can carry the traffic. Provide the paving type, existing defects, coating or sealer and any available restrictions on loading. Mats do not increase a slab's structural capacity or establish when new concrete is ready. Obtain the relevant surface and loading approval before equipment access.
  • Recover a clean set for the next project. Inspect both faces, edges and holes after use, and keep the intended contact face free of embedded debris during stacking. Plan any surface-compatibility trial before extending coverage across the full area. Additional underlay or transition materials, where needed, are separate project provisions rather than assumed BKM accessories.

Applications

  • Renovation access over an existing driveway. Protect the approved route for compact equipment and material deliveries between the entrance and exterior work area. Include turning space, inspect transferred grit and confirm the driveway support. Agree removal and surface checks as the renovation progresses.
  • Industrial maintenance across exterior concrete yards. Establish a defined access path from an outdoor receiving point to the maintenance area. Review wheel loads, tight turns and any coating on the concrete. This is exterior access protection; stationary machine feet and lifting supports require a separate assessment.
  • Landscaping work beside completed paving. Cover a checked crossing of a courtyard or path where equipment must reach adjoining soil or garden areas. Control mud transfer at the boundary and avoid unsupported paving edges. Keep the full wheel path on the protected surface during each movement.

Solid HDPE reference formats for exterior surface-protection enquiries. Surface compatibility and slab capacity require separate confirmation for your project.

Surface arrangement Texture on one face Texture on two faces
Connections and handholds Confirm ordered drawing Confirm ordered drawing

Nominal area does not account for layout waste or turning space. Neither surface configuration guarantees an unmarked finish, and the panels do not increase slab capacity. The related project illustrates a finished-surface review, not approval of these references for every paving type.

Company Certifications
Quality Assurance

Certified for Global Standards

Each batch undergoes thorough inspection on the shop floor. Raw material is tested upon arrival, as well as finished parts upon completion. Anything failing to conform to specifications is not shipped out.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

ISO 9001:2015 certification requires written processes, production control measures, and traceability of the process from initial raw material to finished part. More critically, ISO helps us maintain tolerances across multiple batches, rather than just in theory.

Food-Grade FDA Compliance

In cases of applications involving food production, only selected types of HDPE and UHMWPE materials which conform to FDA food-grade standards are used. These grades are usually utilized in cutting surfaces, guides, and wear parts.

RoHS Compliant Manufacturing

Materials comply with RoHS environmental regulations in terms of substance content restrictions. This is ensured by monitoring the components of the material, rather than the finished part.

Traceable Material Test Reports (MTR)

Material test reports available upon request include mechanical properties such as tensile strength and impact value, as well as wear information and dimensional checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. This page covers solid HDPE panels for exterior equipment access over concrete, driveways and pavers. They are not carpet film, painter's floor covering or an indoor finish-protection sheet. Identify the actual surface and traffic when requesting a specification.

No. Trapped grit, embedded debris, mat movement, connector contact and the finish itself all matter. We can review the underside arrangement, but your protection plan must include cleaning and a suitable compatibility check. Do not treat a smooth-looking sample as a damage-free guarantee.

Review the running traction requirement separately from contact with the concrete. The listed single-sided and double-sided references differ in overall profile and weight, but neither is automatically approved for every finish. Send coating details, surface photos and equipment information before selecting the faces.

No. A mat does not increase the slab's structural capacity or determine concrete readiness. Confirm the allowable loading with the party responsible for the slab and finish. The approved contact-protection arrangement is separate from approval for the equipment load.

Steel grousers, pivoting and concentrated contact need a specific review; straight wheel travel is not an equivalent duty. Send the track details and proposed movements. An intact mat can still move or trap abrasive material, so surface protection must not be inferred from panel thickness alone.

Clean the panel contact faces before placement and manage debris transfer at the boundary. Inspect representative sections when mud, stones or demolition waste may have entered underneath. Remove embedded abrasive material and reassess affected panels before extending the route across sensitive paving.

Send the paving or concrete type, coating details, condition photos, route drawing and equipment loads. Include wheel or track details, turns, pass frequency, quantity, destination and unloading method. Tell us about small wheels or tight clearance so the panel faces and transitions can be reviewed together.
