• Start with the solid HDPE specification. We state the selected material, finished dimensions and surface configuration in your order. HDPE construction ground protection mats are a product family, not a universal vehicle rating. Match the reference to actual wheel or track contact, ground support and frequency of use before confirming the route.
• Separate body thickness from raised texture. Both 1220 × 2440 mm references have a 12.7 mm body. The one-sided version measures approximately 17.7 mm overall; the two-sided version measures approximately 22.7 mm. Compare these measurements separately so a taller tread is not mistaken for more solid material beneath the traffic.
• Select the two contact faces deliberately. The upper face serves the moving equipment, while the underside contacts soil, grass or paving. We review the required arrangement with your surface and traffic details. Double-sided texture is not automatically preferable for finished paving, and a single-sided panel still needs a check of movement and trapped debris.
• Use the stated weight for handling planning. Reference weights are approximately 38 kg for one-sided texture and 41 kg for two-sided texture. Account for panel size, carry openings, access clearance and frequency of repositioning when choosing your handling method. Portable does not mean that every panel is a suitable one-person lift.
• Keep the layout wider where movement requires it. Include turns, reversing and the approach to unloading, not only a straight wheel line. We review compatible connectors against the actual joints in that layout. Confirm hole positions and hardware before production, especially when you need new panels to join existing stock.
• Prepare the interface beneath the panel. Remove sharp debris and inspect the route for weak patches or unsupported areas. On paving, pay particular attention to grit and connector contact; on soil, include drainage and settlement checks. These panels are not a means of spanning a void or making deep mud into an approved equipment route.
• Make cleaning part of the working specification. Keep raised tread free of accumulated mud and inspect the underside when abrasive debris may have entered. Clean HDPE panels can be assessed for reuse, but the next project may have different surface requirements. Maintain separate checks for damage, embedded debris and connector-hole condition.
• Request an order tied to the equipment. Send loaded axle or track details, ground photos, route dimensions and intended turns with the quantity and destination. Tell us the surface configuration you prefer and how you will unload the shipment. We review the reference panel and matching hardware without extending travel suitability to outriggers or stationary equipment supports.

Applications

• Residential access beside retained lawn. Use a selected HDPE configuration for approved compact-equipment movements between the entrance and a building area. Keep turns within the covered route and manage the time grass remains covered. Review the underside separately where the lane reaches an existing driveway.
• Utility work from a paved approach. Link established access to a local work area using suitable portable panels and compatible connections. Identify changes from paving to soil and check support at each boundary. Keep the route away from excavation edges and distinguish vehicle travel from any lifting setup.
• External refurbishment deliveries. Provide a removable route across an existing yard or exterior paved approach while permanent logistics arrangements are interrupted. Review wheel loads, small-wheel transitions and reversing positions. Confirm the contact face and cleaning routine before use on a sensitive finish.

Single-sided and double-sided HDPE reference configurations. The common body thickness does not make their contact arrangements interchangeable for every surface.

The areas and weights are specification references, not unconditional load capacities. Confirm actual ground support and wheel or track loading. The linked construction project illustrates an application; its own panel specification remains separate.
